Looks like it is mostly true, the assertion that more handouts are given in republican-dominated states. This makes sense to me because in those states or areas where local social programs are limited or cut, the poor will seek out federal assistance. Big business on the other hand is likely to avoid paying taxes entirely. Churches remain tax exempt no matter how gigantic or lavish. There is a problem here.
I heard it in nutrition class. Then again on the Buddhist group. Apparently the Buddha ate meat too. I looked up the Dalai Lama's meat habit and discovered that it's old news. He has been eating meat on and off for a very long time. Tibetan Buddhists apparently would rather not talk about it. It seems there is some embarrassment that their holy leader doesn't follow the entire doctrine. To some of them it is wrong to eat meat, that it is contradictory with the teaching of compassion for all living beings. ( thoughtsCollapse )
This is the story of a Sudanese man that we have detained who points out American hypocrisy and plans to boycott his own trial in protest. He is correct in his assessment, and yet the judge and government representatives dismiss him as "unstable," as "very distressed, frantic almost." The Government lawyer wants him evaluated "before he makes any statements," i.e., before he is permitted to speak. Perhaps he will say something that rings so true that everyone around will have to admit it.
This one is worth a careful read. Here is an intelligent man whose mind is still free, in spite of American efforts to brainwash him. Perhaps he can help us all become aware of the ways in which we are brainwashed.
