I don't believe the powers when they tell me to panic. And I definitely don't believe them when they tell me NOT to panic. I think back to 9/11, when all those people in burning skyscrapers, just hit by airplanes, were told to remain calm and stay at their desks. The ones who decided for themselves that the situation was fubar and ran down the stairs were the ones who survived.
For this Japanese quake and tsunami the media machine has been spewing something constantly. Panic. Don't panic. Nothing to worry about. All under control. Oooops, out of control. Whoopsie.
It's up to us to decide what to do for ourselves.
Japan reportedly to rate nuclear crisis at highest level By Chico Harlan, Monday, April 11, 9:30 PM
TOKYO — Japanese authorities planned Tuesday to raise their rating of the severity of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear crisis to the highest level on an international scale, equal to that of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, according to the Kyodo news agency.
I found this news clip offensively biased....and also interesting and educational. It was filmed at the rally for Ron Paul that was held opposite the Repugnican neoconvention. The interviewer zooms in on young rEVOLution supporters while they puff on cigarettes, and films them with the tops of theirs heads chopped off. He includes footage of 14 year olds trying to communicate Ron Paul's message. Thank goodness at least some 14 year olds are awake enough to care! The clip insinuates that Ron Paul supporters are in the dark. See here how one media outlet skews Ron Paul's message ("the constitution, stupid") and insults true patriots.
This is Ron Paul speaking on H.R. 3221, The American Housing and Foreclosure Prevention Act, which passed yesterday. This 7 minute video made it to the front page of Digg in 3 hours--so lots of people have already seen it. ( Comments on what's in the vid in case you'd rather read than watch:Collapse )
He's supporting that crappy FISA bill ("to build cred with the security community") and he has decided that he's not above the rest when it comes to taking money....never mind spending limits.....the pundits say he'll do "what it takes to get elected". I still wish for a person who could get elected based on principles instead of on their willingness to bend over. I still pray that he has integrity but he is showing signs of decay.
Liberty is lost through complacency and a subservient mindset. When we accept or even welcome automobile checkpoints, random searches, mandatory identification cards, and paramilitary police in our streets, we have lost a vital part of our American heritage. America was born of protest, revolution, and mistrust of government. Subservient societies neither maintain nor deserve freedom for long. --Ron Paul
I felt some loneliness the first week I was here. But now, no. I have enough acquaintances to not feel lonely. The landlady, Marie, speaks English and her bf is American. And her niece, Emma, also…
