Happy Solstice

There's a full moon and an eclipse tonight, to add to the charm of the longest night of the year. Here's an excellent NY Times article on the astronomy and cultural variations on celebrations of the solstice.

nice article. It's good to see the historical perspective on Winter Solstice and the Christian co-opting of the pagan celebration in a major publication.

I wish I could see the eclipse, but alas, we are covered in clouds and will be through Weds. Cool celebrations.

The quotes are excellent, and I really think it was Patrick Henry who said to hang together or hang separately...worth checking...
