I have mentioned reading Bernie Siegel's book: Love, Medicine and Miracles. Bernie is a cancer doc and one of his standard questions of his patients is "How long do you want to live?" Bernie says that the people who say they want to live to be 100 are the ones who beat cancer, and the ones who say they don't want to live to be old are the ones who expire early. So according to him, we do get to choose.

That's a good goal. I notice that young people are often the ones who don't think it's worth living to be old. Once we reach middle age, we start wanting MORE. I'm not done yet.
