Disagree. There isn't a commissioned military officer in any of the seven United States' uniformed services who is not aware of "Article 88: Contempt Toward Officials."

There is NO WAY that a 4-Star general would be unaware of the fact that he could be relieved of command if he spoke disparagingly of the President of the United States.

I believe this was just an easy way to get out of the quagmire without having to resign.

perhaps you don't know what shame is?
I said absolutely nothing about him not being aware that he'd done wrong. His facial expression rather reveals that he totally comprehends how badly he screwed up, and how is reputation is shot.
