Meanwhile, 90% of Americans are in favor of investigating crimes committed by the Bush regime...according to an Air America poll. I've come across quite a few commenters and bloggers who say that "enhanced investigation" techniques would be the appropriate way to extricate testimony from the Shrubbery. I'm not saying they don't deserve to get what they give out....but aren't we more civilized than that? I for one wouldn't want to torture anyone, even the torturer. But I sure would like to see Congress get serious about the Constitution, and start holding themselves and the other branches to it.
Frankly, I'm disappointed in Congress. I can barely believe the partisan BS. You would think that they would also be inspired by the inclusive and conversational tone set by our new president. But congress appears quite entrenched in the feedbag approach to politics. They are not about to give up the perks that they developed in the last 8 years. Now that the Dems have a majority, they are being just as idiotic as the Repubs were before. They have a winner-takes-all attitude and take more than they need just because they can. It is no improvement. We need a system that forces the two to compromise not by spending more of our money, but by cutting back on pork and corruption on all sides. Unfortunately this isn't happening. Obama can do nothing about it. I feel for him. And for all of us.
Time to elect some new people to congress!!
