The Cat Chronicles

Shakti the kitten just came back in through the study window. She likes this place, she has the view. From the roof she can drop down to the porch railing and traverse the fence tops to the trees. There's a tree just outside the kitchen window that has numerous fine perches from which she can scope out the neighboring yards. When inside she sits in the window and watches the birds and squirrels on the power lines. She seems to be settling down some. She still turns into a little hellion every now and then, scampering about wildly and pawing at nothing. She also attacks Vida the pug when she gets in this mode. Shakti stalks with her ears down and back. She could pounce at any time, the pug is unaware, but she waits. It appears to me that she just gets more pissed off the longer she waits to attack. It is amusing to watch though I think it is hard on the pug to be so hated by a cat. Vida has lived with cats that snuggled her before, so one that attacks is not so nice.

Vida's got an itch these days and Suzanne has bathed her twice. She's still scratching and miserable. Her misery drives Suzanne nuts. So she called and got a vet appointment today. We will hopefully find the cure for whatever is bugging the pug.

School has been done a week now and I'm finally beginning to relax. It took a while. I still have this urgent feeling about the state of the world, and this deep unease with the debt I plan to incur. But aside from those things.....when I can breathe until they are not NOW, until now is just now......life is good. The daily routines are easy, the company is good, we have food to eat and a roof over our head. Today a friend (C) from school is taking us up to the Columbia River gorge for some light hiking & sight seeing. I'm excited to go. C was born and raised here, and knows his way around.

I have not heard from my biochemistry professor yet about my grade. It is the only class I was concerned about.

If you haven't heard from Dangerfield yet, you are probably ok. :)

Enjoy your adventure!

Thanks! C reassured me that the flunking notices had already gone out. Phew. Dodged that one.

The gorge was cold but the waterfalls are neat....will do that again and again and again. Will do some hiking/camping when it's warmer.
