More on Radiation

Finally Mercola chips in: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/03/25/how-to-protect-yourself-from-nuclear-radiation.aspx and as usual I find his take quite reasonable.

Nagel shift discussion
seaseed mb not best KI source because of mercury contamination
sea salt may also be contaminated with heavy metals or bromides
good: alginates, high anti-ox berries

Great chart here giving full perspective on relative exposures:

from Unda Chat, free e-book about healing from radioactive exposure
by Bill Bodri, zen master with degrees in engineering and nutrition
provides many references
benefits of the seaweeds, algaes, miso, clay baths etc

EDIT: FROM TERRY HAMMEL ON THE PDX RON PAUL GROUP on 3/28/11:

If it wasn't apparent to you by now, we cannot trust our elected officials for anything. As this radiological crises worsens in Japan, it's important that you pay attention to the meteorologists yourself to get current source information.

Current models show the Pacific NW is safe from Iodine-131 (8 day half-life, or loses half potency in 8 days), but is exposed to at least .5 millirems per hour of Cesium-137 (30 year half-life) and spiking sporadically through Monday (3/28) to 1 millirem per hour.

By the EPA's own standards you shouldn't be exposed to more than 1 millirem PER YEAR. This exposure is many hundreds of times the safe yearly dose. Please try and avoid long periods outdoors for the next couple days, especially if you are pregnant and/or have small children, and check back at the models for updates.

The models are qualitative, meaning the affected areas are general, and exact particulate counts specific to smaller sub-sections of the model areas will not be consistent to the affected area.
